Alicia Murray, Partner, Matthews Law
Alicia Murray is a commercial litigator with over 20 years experience. Alicia has particular experience in competition law, fair trading act and other related consumer-focused legislation. Alicia has recently joined Matthews Law, a specialist competition law firm, where she advises clients on all competition law issues, including investigations, mergers and acquisitions and compliance. Alicia has strong court experience, and experience with alternative forms of dispute resolution and has assisted clients with investigations by the Commerce Commission or the Financial Markets Authorith under the Commerce Act, Fair Trading Act and Credit Contract and Consumer Finance Act, Financial Markets Conduct Act or Financial Advisers Act. She has a depth of experience dealing with regulators and helping clients to navigate complex issues.


Ms. Charlotte Beale, Senior Associate, Russ + Associates
Charlotte Beale is a senior associate at Russ + Associates. Charlotte is a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand, where she was admitted in 2009. Charlotte is a senior tax, trusts and AML/CFT practitioner who has been working with the AML/CFT regime since before the passage of the AML/CFT Act into law, contributing to papers on the topic, and serving on an internal AML/CFT committee. Charlotte advises reporting entities on all aspects of AML/CFT law and compliance and conducts independent AML/CFT audits.


Ms. Catherine Townsend, Barrister, St Marys Chambers
Catherine graduated with an LLB from the University of Auckland in 1988, before departing NZ on her "OE". In London, she worked for a criminal law practice as an Outdoor Clerk. During her time in this role, she had the privilege of assisting senior barristers and QCs. She then worked for the London Borough of Hackney in a Care and Protection Law role, before returning to NZ. Upon her return to NZ, Catherine worked in the Family Law team at Shieff Angland, before moving to Simpson Grierson. In 1996 she established herself as a Barrister Sole. Catherine specialises in all areas of Family Law but has maintained a strong interest in Child Law and is regarded as senior Lawyer for Child. She has presented at many seminars and conferences – including the most recent NZLS Advanced Lawyer for Child Conference in Wellington.


Chris Linton, Consultant, Duncan Cotterill
Chris is a senior corporate/commercial and technology specialist. She advises New Zealand and international corporates, and public sector clients, on their terrestrial and online businesses. This includes technology projects (from strategy, procurement and implementation through to dispute resolution), blockchain, crypto and fintech businesses (advising start-ups and investors); M&A, joint ventures, strategic alliances, venture capital, and gaming (and related regulatory advice). Before joining Duncan Cotterill, Chris was a partner at national law firm in Wellington and a specialist commercial law firm in Auckland. She also worked in London with leading global firm, Linklaters doing cross border M&A, joint ventures and financing. Chris is the Honorary Consul for Finland in Auckland, President of the New Zealand Scandinavia Business Association, and a member of Fintech NZ.


Mrs. Vicki Ammundsen, Director, Vicki Ammundsen Trust Law Limited
Vicki is the director at Vicki Ammundsen Trust Law Limited, which she established in 2015, and the author of a number of books on trusts and trustees including Taxation of Trusts, ed 3, Trustee Liability and the Trustee’s Handbook, ed 4 (all CCH New Zealand Limited). She has presented at conferences in New Zealand and internationally on wills and estates, trusts and the law of equity. Vicki also produces the blog Matters of Trust as a resource to share up-to-date trust law knowledge. Vicki uses her day-to-day experience with trusts and estates and her deep knowledge of New Zealand and international case developments to underpin her practical, solutions-focussed approach to dealing with trust and family law issues. She firmly believes that trusts have an important role to play in inter-generational asset management, but that this is risked by a lack of understanding of effective or appropriate trust management that too often leads to misunderstanding or abuse.


Ms. Susan Rowe, Partner, Buddle Findlay
Susan is an experienced commercial litigation partner in Buddle Findlay's litigation team. She leads the Christchurch employment and health and safety team. For over 25 years Susan has advised a wide range of private and public sector clients and tertiary and early childhood education providers on the full ambit of employment and health and safety issues. Susan is a former Convenor of a New Zealand Law Society National Standards Committee and past member of the Film and Literature Board of Review. Ms. Tammy McLeod, Managing Director, Davenports Law
Tammy is the Managing Director at Davenports Law and a trust and asset structuring specialist with over 20 years legal experience specialising in the areas of personal asset planning, trust law and Property (Relationships) Act. Tammy leads the Davenports Trust Team and, before joining Davenports in 2004, was a senior solicitor in a boutique trust practice. She is one of a handful of lawyers nationally who specialise solely in the area of trusts and asset planning, and a leading lawyer in her field.


Ms. Emily Morrow, Executive Consultant,
As a consultant to lawyers and law firms, Emily focuses on the core capabilities lawyers need to be successful; business development, strategic planning, self-presentation/ communication skills, practice management and succession planning. Ms. Angela Evans, Partner, BE Employment Law
Angela is a Partner at BE Employment Law, a specialist employment law firm. In addition to her employment law expertise, Angela has a commercial litigation background, has appeared in the Authority and in most courts where employment issues are heard and is keen on the strategic and advocacy aspects of employment law.


Mr. Campbell McKenzie, Director, Incident Response Solutions
Campbell is the Founder and Director of Incident Response Solutions Limited, providing forensic, cyber security and crisis management services. Campbell was previously a Director at PwC New Zealand (12 years) and led PwC's national "forensic technology" practice, and the Auckland "cyber security" practice, a combined team of 11 expert staff. Prior to PwC, Campbell was a founding member of NZ Police's Electronic Crime Laboratory (4.5 years) and as an expert witness, he specialises in electronic investigations, cybercrime incident response and eDiscovery matters. He is recognised by the District and High Courts of New Zealand as a forensic technology expert and has also been appointed as an independent expert by the High Court. Campbell understands how critical it is for law firms to mitigate the cyber risks they face. Therefore in 2020, Incident Response Solutions published the "Cyber Security Guide for NZ Law Firms", a contextual resource to assist lawyers and law firms manage their cyber security risk.


Ms. Lynda Kearns KC, Barrister, Bastion Chambers
Lynda Kearns has been a specialist in all aspects of family law for many years. Her practice primarily relates to cases involving relationship and Trust property as well as estate matters, including family protection claims. She advises on custody, access, Hague Convention cases and maintenance, including spousal maintenance. She has particular expertise in the area of child support. She has senior counsel for the child status and is routinely appointed to act for children, as counsel to assist the Court or as amicus. She has presented numerous seminars on a variety of property and Trust related issues and matters relating to children. She has been appointed to numerous Law Society committees and chaired the ADLS Family Law Subcommittee.


Mr. Nicholas Kearney, Special Counsel, Davenports Law
Nick has been in practice for two decades, and graduated with his Master of Laws in 2017, where he wrote a thesis on the role caveat emptor plays in real estate transactions, particularly following the introduction of the Real Estate Agents Act 2008. He takes a particular interest in the law around the role real estate agents play in property transactions and advises a range of parties - vendors, purchasers and agents - on their rights and obligations under the Act, and in related areas. He has acted for a large residential developer of sections for many years and is well versed in the technicalities and nuances of subdivisions.


Ms. June Hardacre, Partner, MinterEllisonRuddWatts
June is an employment specialist who regularly advises both private and public sector clients on all aspects of New Zealand Employment law. Her practice includes advising on health and safety, remuneration and incentives, data protection, and employee privacy matters. June provides accessible and commercially sound advice to her clients and achieves outcomes for clients that do not compromise values. She has applied this approach during negotiations with unions on collective bargaining and industrial disputes, and while advising on conduct, bullying, and harassment investigations for a range of major New Zealand organisations.
