Paul Shallard, Partner, Deloitte
Paul Shallard is a Deloitte Consulting Partner based in Auckland with over 18 years of experience with Deloitte in New Zealand and internationally on a wide range of projects. From improving service delivery and enhancing the customer experience, through to reducing operating costs, Paul works with his clients to design and implement changes to the way they operate as a way to increase enterprise value and to deliver better results. He specialises in sourcing and procurement, strategic cost transformation, and service outsourcing, across the public and private sectors.


Mei Fern Johnson, Partner, Russell McVeagh
Mei Fern advises on complex commercial contracting and on mergers and acquisitions, with particular expertise in investment in (and procurement of) infrastructure, technology, transport and energy (including oil and gas) projects. She advises on foreign inbound investments and divestments, the establishment of joint ventures, significant outsourcing contracts (including contracting with the Government), and the introduction of new technologies. Mei Fern is experienced in stakeholder management, having worked on various high profile and sensitive projects. She provides expert advice in major procurement and tendering processes, including responding to Government tender processes. She also advises on a full range of Board and statutory risk management and governance matters. Mei Fern works with private sector and public sector clients, including having been (Acting) General Counsel for a significant Crown Entity for 18 months.


Nick Crang, Partner, Duncan Cotterill
Nick specialises in public law, administrative law, competition and regulatory law, and energy law, and leads the nationwide public law practice. His recent work includes advising on competition issues under Part 2 of the Commerce Act and in mergers, pricing for monopoly infrastructure services, telecommunication deals, mergers in the public sector, funding arrangements and other contracts in the public sector. He has advised on regulation in the broadcasting sector, and decisions under electricity and telecommunication laws. Nick works for government departments, Crown entities, regulators, and other organisations in the public sector, such as industry training organisations. In the private sector, he works for telecommunication, energy and broadcasting companies, airports and seaports.


Nicola Robbins, Senior Solicitor, Russell McVeagh
Nicola is a senior lawyer in Russell McVeagh's Corporate Advisory team, with a focus on complex and high-risk procurement of infrastructure and technology. Her experience includes direct involvement with multiple large procurement projects (working with both the procuring agency and the tenderer) and more generally advising on corporate governance. More recently, Nicola has been assisting the Ministry of Justice with the procurement of a new case management solution for the courts and tribunals. Nicola also chairs the Wellington branch of the Infrastructure Collective.
