Ms. Emma Maconick, Partner, Ernst & Young
Emma Maconick leads the Data, Digital and Technology Law practice at EY Law in Oceania, with over 20 years of international experience assisting major technology clients engaged in data and innovation intensive activities. Emma is a trusted advisor to the world’s biggest consumer platform operators, hyper-growth companies, venture funds, financial institutions, big data and analytics providers, cloud and edge computing operators, “everything as a service” businesses, developers, users and policy makers on AI/ML, advanced virtual and augmented reality, autonomous mobility manufacturers, hardware and software developers and investors in all these spaces. Emma also advises transactional clients with M&A, PE and VC investments, business transformations, capital markets and corporate transactions. In that context, she focuses on IP transactions, IT procurement, data protection, privacy and cybersecurity issues, including diligence and risk allocation, cyber incident response management, leveraging data as an asset and complex/global IP strategy work. Ms. Kristin Wilson, Senior Associate, Bell Gully
Kristin is an experienced litigator with particular expertise in intellectual property, media law, privacy (including cyber security), and consumer law. She has represented clients in the District Court, High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, and often acts for clients in the context of urgent injunctions. As part of her practice, Kristin advises clients on how best to protect their intellectual property against infringement, and how to respond when a claim of infringement is made against a client or third party. Kristin is also experienced in dealing with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and is a “go to” lawyer in the event of a privacy breach, having assisted large national and international organisations to respond to privacy breaches and manage the aftermath of a breach. On the front-end, Kristin advises clients on how to mitigate the risk of privacy breaches through robust policies and contractual measures, and has assisted several large clients with privacy audits and compliance assessments.

Anchali Anandanayagam is a partner at Hudson Gavin Martin, a corporate, commercial and dispute resolution law firm boasting the largest and most experienced legal team in the country focused on technology, media, and IP. Adrian van Hest is an Asia Pacific Partner and EY’s Global Incident Response Solution Lead, with 30 years of cybersecurity, international business and Digital experience. He has deep expertise across the entire cyber security ecosystem and has led everything from strategy and transformation, through to delivery and high-profile incident response. At EY Adrian is focussed on large scale Cyber transformation, our Microsoft and CrowdStrike alliances, and managed services related to security operations including data protection, threat detection and incident response. Prior to joining EY, Adrian was the National Cyber Leader for PwC and also led PwC’s Global Threat and Vulnerability Management Centre of Excellence. Adrian is passionate about improving cyber security in New Zealand. He was a founder and board member of the award winning NZITF, is a perennial iSANZ Awards judge and has been appointed by successive governments to the NZ CERT Enablement board.
