Dene Gavin, Partner, Duncan CotterillDene specialises in commercial and property law with a particular focus on rural law. regularly advises clients in relation to business purchases, shareholders’ agreements, obtaining leasing matters, banking and finance, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, restructuring, collaborative agreements and joint ventures. He has experience in a broad range of commercial law matters and has advised clients from a range of industries including construction, tourism, rural, forestry, aquaculture and property.

Mark brings a unique blend of legal expertise in agribusinesses of all sizes, and an approach grounded in sixteen years experience as a stock agent. Admitted to the bar in 2004, Mark’s is a pragmatic, collaborative and flexible style honed over years of coming to know the sector and its people. His passion for agribusiness, insights into what goes on behind the farm gate and ongoing connections within the sector mean his clients get advice that is grounded in the real world. He understands the issues that those in agribusiness grapple with every day – as well as the many opportunities on offer.
Gerard Cleary, Partner, Anthony Harper
Gerard Cleary has over 25 years' experience providing resource management, planning and environmental legal advice. His experience covers all aspects of development under the RMA, including advising on the preparation of land use consent and private plan change applications, coordinating consultants for land development projects and appearing at local authority, Environment Court and High Court levels. Gerard also has significant experience in advising on local government and land acquisition legislation. He has a real insider’s view. He has a deep understanding of the politics of local government, having worked as a resource planner within local government, and understands how the RMA operates from working inside the planning environment and is able to speak their language.
