As a result, there is a line that teachers need to draw between professional and personal relationships to keep both themselves and ākonga | students safe. This line is referred to as a professional boundary.
In this session participants can expect an informative session that develops their understanding of Professional Boundaries for the Teaching Profession and how to navigate the grey areas.

William Kronast, Lawyer, Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
William is a lawyer for the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand. Prior to this he worked for a small firm the Manawatu providing advice and representation on matters relating to Criminal (including Youth Justice), Family, and Employment Law. He has additionally worked for Community Law providing local organizations with legal education and ensuring that the most vulnerable areas of the population have access to justice.
Rose-Anne London, Tohutohu Mātua, Senior Advisor, Relationship Management and Pathways, Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
Rose-Anne started her early childhood education experience in a part time role in Papaioea. This led to a love of teaching and a career including professional leader roles across early childhood services throughout Kāpiti and Whanganui-ā-Tara. Currently residing in Whanganui-ā-Tara, Rose-Anne’s current role is a Senior Advisor, in the Relationship Management and Pathways team at the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Peter Kaiser, Principal, Tirimoana School
Mr Kaiser began his teaching career in 1975 training at Auckland Secondary Teachers College and the University of Auckland. He graduated with a BA in History, and post graduate studies in Education, Psychology and Anthropology. He has taught in a number of schools in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, at Secondary, Intermediate and Primary levels. As well, Mr Kaiser taught in Special Education for 5 years and completed a Diploma in Special Education. Mr Kaiser completed his Master of Education in Professional Studies with 1st class Honours at Auckland University. He has been Principal at Tirimoana School for over 25 years. He established and led the Te Atatu Community of Learning with 8 other West Auckland Schools.
