Dene Gavin, Partner, Duncan Cotterill
Dene specialises in commercial and property law with a particular focus on rural law. regularly advises clients in relation to business purchases, shareholders’ agreements, obtaining leasing matters, banking and finance, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, restructuring, collaborative agreements and joint ventures. He has experience in a broad range of commercial law matters and has advised clients from a range of industries including construction, tourism, rural, forestry, aquaculture and property. He is on the board of the Top of the South Community Foundation, and a volunteer for Nelson Coastguard.


Sarah Eveleigh, Partner, Anderson Lloyd
Sarah Eveleigh is a Partner with Anderson Lloyd. She specialises in resource management and has particular expertise in water management, agribusiness and urban development. She advises clients on a broad range of matters including consenting, compliance, planning processes and due diligence. Sarah has acted for various entities and individual farmers on regional plan changes relating to water management, rural land use and nutrient management, and on consenting of water storage and irrigation schemes. She has also successfully obtained commercial, residential and rural-residential land rezoning for a number of land developers in Canterbury.


Mike King, Partner, Lane Neave
Mike is a Partner in Lane Neave’s dispute resolution and litigation team. He has advised and appeared in Court and arbitrations on a wide range of commercial and civil litigation disputes including shareholder disputes, property matters, agribusiness-related disputes, defamation, and insolvency matters. Mike acts for a diverse range of clients including large organisations, local councils, high-net-wealth individuals, as well as SMEs. He has developed specialist expertise in acting for clients involved in relationship property, and trust and estate disputes in both the Family Court and High Court.

Jo Giboney, Special Counsel, Duncan Cotterill
Jo specialises in taxation law working with clients in both the private and public sectors. She advises on the New Zealand tax implications of a wide range of matters including business structures, reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions as well as isolated transactions. Working collaboratively with teams across all our firm’s practice areas, Jo ensures material tax risks are identified, and solutions are recommended in a timely and efficient manner. In addition to tax advisory work, she regularly provides input in relation to transaction documentation and drafting, so that outcomes for clients are optimised from a taxation, as well as commercial perspective.
