Steve Cullen has been practising in the fields of Criminal and Traffic law for the past 30 years. He has served as a member of various Auckland District Law Society subcommittees, has been a past committee member of the Criminal Bar Association and has presented webinars in relation to Drink Drive legislation and Limited Licence Applications on behalf of the Auckland District Law Society. Steve is regularly contacted by national media for comment and input on matters of Criminal and Traffic law. He has appeared on both radio and television and is a regular guest commentator on National Radio.
Karen Harding is a Barrister and Solicitor who specialises as a criminal lawyer. Her clients are people who have been, or will be, charged with an offence against some law or statute. Karen commenced practicing in 1997 and has represented thousands of clients on charges ranging from speeding to very serious offences. While she is widely known for representing those on driving and criminal charges, she also represents people charged under many other acts and legislation including the Arms, Fisheries, Maritime Safety and Companies' Acts as well as Resource Management issues. Basically if you have to go to court for any reason, Karen can help you. Karen appears daily in the courts in the Auckland region which has given her a thorough understanding and practical experience of how the system works in practice. This allows her to achieve the best possible results for clients. Before setting up her law practice Karen spent three years in the hard world of direct sales to the public in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom. This experience has given her a deeper view of life's realities than the average lawyer. That experience is reflected in the way she works with her clients and the efforts she makes on their behalf. As well as hands on experience Karen has a high degree of technical excellence and undergoes continuing research on legal trends and academic qualifications
Auckland barrister Tony Beach represents both legally aided clients as well as private clients. He is also a duty lawyer at North Shore District Court. His criminal cases have included: Property offences: These include, for example, burglary, theft, receiving or obtaining by deception charges. Violence offences: For example, male assaults female or common assault, possession of offensive weapons. Drugs charges: Possession of drugs or utensils, such as a pipe, under the Misuse of Drugs Act. The Forensic Group was established in 2008 by Dr Anna Sandiford, a Senior Forensic Science Consultant with many years' experience in New Zealand and overseas who started her forensic science career in 1998. Her expert witness history includes expertise in alcohol toxicology (particularly alcohol calculations), drug driving, drugs, footwear, glass, physical fits and pollen. Since starting the company, Dr Sandiford has developed expertise in managing large and complex cases, having been involved in multiple high-profile cases including the 2009 Bain retrial, the 2015 Lundy retrial, the 2015 Privy Council decision of an unsafe conviction of Teina Pora for the murder of Susan Burdett, and many others. She has been referred to as 'the expert on experts' and is author of Forensic Science and the Law: a guide for police, lawyers and expert witnesses (Thomson Reuters, 2013) and the general interest book Expert Witness (HarperCollins, 2011). Dr Sandiford has extensive national and international networks from which to locate experts from across a broad range of expertise including rare and unusual skill sets. She has worked extensively with Legal Aid and the NZ Law Commission on issues relating to expert witnesses and forensic standards
